What I Really Hate in RPG ...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Written by The Amethyst Circle Team

Bossy players trying to push the party in one direction and making quick decisions without regard for other players.

Selfish players who love to hear the sound of their own voice, making sure they are constantly in the centre of attention and solving everything without using other players expertise.

Passive players not participating in the game, just occasionally remarking "Uhm, I'll do the same as that guy is doing"

Unprepared players, storming in without their notes, character sheets, or even dice and expect the GM to fix it.

Mean players, mostly playing evil alignments, whose only joy in life seems to be to hinder, trap or even kill the rest of the party.

Chatty players, talking out of character about their work and friends all the time and not paying attention to the game.

Purposeless players, playing characters without any background basically going nowhere, with no sense of achievement during the game.

Fighting-crazy players obsessed with combat, dozing off as soon as they have cleaned their Two Handed Bastard Sword.

Uninterested players, who cannot attend every other session because they have other appointments even though dates for gaming have been agreed on well in advance.

Rules-based players, who can quote directly from the rulebooks and do so at every opportunity, trying to twist a GM's arm without giving roleplaying a chance of solving the problem.

Munchkin players, dedicated to min-max numbers to get the highest abilities, getting the most out of bonuses, demanding the best magical weapons and generally not ready for a roleplaying challenge.

Bossy GM's who cut off all initiative from players, steering players in a clear direction without waiting for input and leaving players no room to manoeuvre.

Selfish GM's, who don't listen to what their players expect from the plot and the campaign, concentrating solely on their own favourite side of the game.

Passive GM's.

Unprepared GM's, who don't have maps, don't know the ins and outs of the characters, need to improvise constantly at the cost of depth of the plot, left their notes and dice at home and don't even got a rulesbook ready for easy reference.

Mean GM's, whose only joy in life seems to be to hinder, trap or kill the party, while being sparingly with treasure and experience.

Chatty GM's, who talk all the time about friends and work, and forget entirely about the plot.

Purposeless GM's, who think a campaign is just throwing around with encounters, never heard about quest, puzzles and adventures, and who move their players through a series of unrelated events.

Fighting-crazy GM's who come up with one foe after another in outright combat, keeping the party in constant battle mode and with dice at the ready, not leaving room for political, economical en general normal things in life to take place.

Uninterested GM's who calls off session after session, often without notifying the players, because of other appointments, even though dates have been agreed well in advance.

Rule-based GM's, who have eyes only for the precise details in the rulebook, but have no eye for creative roleplaying solutions of their players.

Munchkin GM's, who let their players min-max their abilities, give out weapons and magical items freely and in general interpret the rules so easily and are so little demanding that there is no challenge for players in role-playing.
